On Sunday, March 4, 2024, the mental health department of CUAS honored the invitation of the Smyrne Baptist Church of Haut-Limbé to address a subject of great importance: the importance of mental health in the management of arterial hypertension (HTN) and diabetes. This event was an excellent opportunity for exchange and sharing of essential information for the community.

Church members gathered to discuss the importance of mental health in the management of hypertension and diabetes.

An Enlightening Presentation

The session began with a detailed presentation of the links between mental health and chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. The speakers explained how stress, anxiety and depression can affect the management of these diseases, and presented strategies to better manage mental health alongside medical treatment.

Active Participation

Participants were very responsive and engaged throughout the session. They asked many questions, shared their personal experiences and expressed their gratitude for the information provided. Their enthusiasm contributed to creating a dynamic and interactive atmosphere, making the exchanges meaningful.

A Request for Another Session

At the end of the session, the pastor of the Smyrne Baptist Church of Haut-Limbé expressed the desire to deepen the subject by requesting another training session. This next session will be held during the Sunday morning worship service, allowing more community members to benefit from this essential training.

This first meeting was a resounding success, highlighting the importance of integrating mental health into the management of chronic diseases. The mental health department of CUAS and the Smyrne Baptist Church of Haut-Limbé continue to work together to provide valuable resources and training to the community.
